Who We Are
Welcome, we are Seed Life Skills. We have grown from the vision of food education advocate, dedicated father and Chef Hugh Acheson. Consequently, we love food and we’ve got the experience to do food right. Food truly unifies all of us, but doesn’t alone determine our quality of life.
21st century students must blend the best of their creative, engineering and entrepreneurial skills to thrive in a dynamic, global environment; and home economics classes are just the right place to get prepared! Hugh is interested in supporting education that teaches real life skills with topics including hands-on culinary instruction, conscious consumer economics, and D.I.Y. design principles.
We are a collaborative effort between culinary and industry professionals, school administrators, parents, teachers, movers and makers that know what it takes to prepare our next generation of dreamers, doers, and leaders.
Seed Life Skills is a living curriculum dedicated to empowering youth to be sustainable stewards of food and financial resources; while emphasizing innovative and handcrafted approaches to core and community lessons.
What We Do
We get kids cooking, connecting science to real life problems, and engineering sustainable solutions. We provide curriculum tools to support innovative, lab-based learning in the classroom and equipment that is desperately needed by teachers who often pay out of pocket to supply these experiences for students. By providing these essential tools, together we are laying the foundation of a thriving economy and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs, educators, and community leaders to be prepared for whatever life can throw their way.
